The name, CAFOD, stands for Catholic Agency For Overseas Development. It works to give people in poorer countries things they need, eg a goat, mosquito nets, clean water for a family, or a community toilet.
The CAFOD Committee works with Mrs Burns to make the work of CAFOD better known in the school, through displays and assemblies. Each year there are two special assemblies to inform the children about the Harvest Fast Day and Lenten "Give it up" appeal.
Each class is also going to choose a way to raise some money for CAFOD during the year linked to their topic. Then the children will choose which World Gift they want to purchase for people less fortunate than themselves.
